Reflections on the Wesak Full Moon

Soraya Saraswati - Tuesday, May 19, 2009
We had a wonderfully powerful Wesak full Moon Retreat here at Mandala. Thank you from us to all those beautiful people who attended and stayed. We really did finish the retreat in a place of honesty and  integrity. A profound questioning of life and its process arose and took each of us on a personal journey carried by the energy of the group. We created  space to explore the  deeper aspects and driving forces in both ourselves and the society we have agreed to be a part of. Much heartfelt sharing in sacred space was experienced. Oh how refreshing it is to not know and move on a journey of exploration together without placing anyone above or below you. It is only when we come from a place of not knowing that we can truly explore a new way of being, together. I reflect now on how precious this opportunity for raw honesty is, and how lacking it is in our superficially contrived daily lives and communities. Truth is sometimes painful to chew and even more difficult to swallow and  digest but is so profoundly important if we are choosing a life of integrity.
The one thing we can count on in our superficial lives is that things will change; this body will grow old and dissolve back into the earth. Until we connect with the pure subject - consciousness that unites us as all as one, beyond the egoic expression of this object - body, life is merely a short dance which does not make a lot of sense.   Our short sojourn on this earth is very precious, a tremendous gift that we fritter away on confused paths of delusion and ignorance. We only have this moment now in which we could choose to ask ourselves regularly; Am I seeing the beauty of each day and taking full advantage of the possibility of manifesting and vibrating at my highest frequency or am I getting stuck in the insignificant details? Am I questioning everything or am I following the herd. Do I take this journey seriously, yet joyfully? Do I realize the awesomeness of it all?  Maybe its' the coming winter and todays' rain that bring forth these questions. Winter is traditionally a time to go within and examine what is no longer necessary in our lives. To allow new seeds of possibility to rest, awaiting the springtime when the illumination of the warm sun brings them forth to grow, blossom and bear fruit. As we move towards the end of an era, the end of the Mayan Calendar; let us contemplate deeply, shed old outmoded and limiting  beliefs, and dare to empty ourselves of already Knowing -  To see with New Eyes and feel with an awakened heart. Let us jump empty handed into the void together. What have we got to lose?...............Soraya
